Horror Correspondence Course - Assignment Two
I haven't scanned the pencil version of this page yet but plan to do so. For assignment two the student is to utilize all the elements of lesson two. Namely, location, where and when, time of day, weather and mood. I tried to stick to the assignment criteria as close as I could and yet still provide a glimpse into part of my horror story premise.
And the final colored version. Here I learned a little about the effect I used to create the lightning. In future instances where I plan to use fog and burning buildings I'll have a better awareness as to how to render them first at the pencil and ink stage.
The practice drawings for this lesson were fun to do. I experimented around with rendering trees in a new way and while most of the objects were real I did invent the double cross necklace. The demonic possession sequence was my favorite to draw. The trucks and spooky house were inspired by actual places I saw while driving commercial trucks for a living. The mad monks for all seasons was a great exercise in shadow.
